We had a good turn-out for the AGM on Thursday; thank you all for attending (to all who did so), despite the dodgy weather forecast! And the meeting was unanimous in adopting the new, improved Constitution, I’m pleased to report.
After the meeting we also had a couple of volunteers for the Committee, which was good news, as we’ve dwindled a bit of late! Margaret Spooner retired from the committee at the AGM, and also announced that she’d like to step down from her responsibilities for the refreshments at our indoor meetings. May I publicly thank her here for her input in both capacities. The new recruits will be confirmed in a future posting.
After the AGM our speaker, Trevor Rogers, gave a most original talk incorporating many quotations, in verse and prose, on the subjects of gardens, gardeners and gardening, interspersed with his own observations and anecdotes. It was generally well received, although I think that several of us would have welcomed a larger selection of slides and a sprinkling of practical advice about plants.
