Gwen Grantham Trophy for daffodils

Many of you will have fond memories of the late Gwen Grantham, who died last year, and will no doubt remember that she was a very keen daffodil grower. Indeed she was for many years chair of The Lincolnshire Daffodil Society, which will be holding its annual show on 18 & 19 April at the Springfields Exhibition Centre, Spalding. This year they are introducing a trophy in her honour, donated by her husband Geoffrey, for the best bloom in any division. See the attached flyer for full details, or visit the Lincolnshire Daffodil Society’s website for more information about their Show.

Gill Boundy, of the Lincs Daff Soc, tells us: “I am opening our garden for the NGS a week before the show as a way of drumming up support for the show as well as giving people a chance to see lots of daffodils. I just pray they are out and not over!” Cross-checking with the NGS listings, this is Firsby Manor at Spilsby, PE23 5JQ, 3 acres surrounding a Georgian farmhouse, a first-time opening on 12 April (1–5pm), admission £2.50.
